British Army WW2 Other Ranks Wool Collared Shirt

These Khaki drab wool flannel collared shirts started to be issued from 1944 onwards to British soldiers in response to troops complaining that their uniforms were not as smart as the Americans.Men had been unofficially wearing their Battle Dress blouses open at the collar with whatever collared shirt and tie they could obtain in an attempt to smarten up their somewhat drab appearance. So the Army relented and and began issuing this shirt and a tie for the soldiers “walking out ” uniform. This particular shirt, made by Rocola and dated 1945, is in good condition with no rips, tears or repairs except for one very small moth hole on the upper right sleeve. The obvious flaws are that there are various paint spots on the lower sleeves and the left cuff is missing a button. However these are easy to fix.The shirt is Army size 4 – in actual measurements it is 55cm across the armpits,60cm from shoulder to cuff, approx 36cm collar and 43cm across the shoulder so roughly a small/medium.
