South African MK II Helmet

Here we have a truly Commonwealth example of the iconic British MK II helmet. The khaki painted shell is of South African manufacture, characterised by the three holes drilled at the rear brim for attaching a neck flap, a slight widening of the brim on each side and a rim weld on the left side (as worn). The liner is an Australian Dunlop size 7 and the strap is the standard British MK2 metal spring type. Overall there is some surface rusting on the outer shell but the inner is in good condition. The Dunlop liner shows evidence of being stacked and this has deformed the cruciforms, however it is complete and the strap is in very good condition with plenty of spring left. The helmet would display well on a mannequin head.
