Thermette Cooker

An iconic piece of Kiwi ingenuity and design, the Thermette was first manufactured in 1929 by John A Hart from Manawatu and used by NZ Railways work gangs.During World War Two it was issued to Kiwi troops fighting in the Western Desert who dubbed it the “Benghazi Boiler” where the distinctive circular scorch marks left by having a “brew up” puzzled the Germans for sometime until they discovered what it was.Simply light a fire underneath and this heats the water in the outer cylinder while also heating your cooking pot on top.An essential item for camping, at the beach, holidays or for the Earthquake kit.
