US Army Heavy Duty Poncho

This type of waterproof poncho was what the US Army had when they went to Vietnam. It was an excellent design, able to be used as a poncho, shelter 1/2 or sleeping bag/blanket. However they were heavy and had a tendency to shine when wet. This was remedied from 1966 onwards with the introduction of the “Lightweight Poncho” which was identical but used a lighter fabric. This example has the usual FSN (federal stock number) and is dated 17th June 1960(?) It is as pictured in good used condition with the only flaws being two small rips front and back and a missing waist cord.
